Two women were part of the criminal organization.
During a joint and coordinated operation against extortion and kidnapping, the Colombian Navy, the National Army and the Attorney General's Office managed to capture nine men and two women, suspected members of the Organized Crime Group, GDO, Los Panelas, in the Departments of Atlántico and Bolívar.
In compliance with simultaneous search efforts in houses of Barranquilla and Soledad, in Atlántico, and in the city of Cartagena, in Bolivar, troops of the military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Bolivar, joint elite Military Gaula no.1 of the Colombian Navy, in coordination with the Caribbean military Gaula of the National Army and officials of the technical investigation Corps, CTI, of the Attorney General's Office, captured these 11 people, who allegedly belonged to the gang serving the substructure Heroes of the Caribbean, of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
With this result it was possible to hit the illicit finances of this armed group, bearing in mind that, according to preliminary information, the members of the GDO (Common criminality groups in Spanish) Los Panelas are the alleged responsible for committing criminal acts, including extortion, which hits civilians and commerce in the Caribbean region.
Those captured were put into custody of the specialized prosecutor's Office 156, for their judicial process for the crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes for the purposes of extortion, qualified and aggravated theft, trafficking, manufacture or carrying of narcotic drugs and manufacture, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories or parts, or ammunition.
