The minister said that drug trafficking is the Colombia's true enemy since it generates violence and death in the Bajo Cauca antioqueño.
The Minister of Defense, Holmes Trujillo, presided over a security council in the municipality of Caucasia, to analyze and take action with the Military Forces, the departmental and municipal authorities, to cope with the unfortunate events that occurred in the municipality of Cuturú, where 3 people were killed, one was missing and another 5 people were injured.
The head of the Ministry announced that the events that occurred would be caused due to a confrontation between the Organized Armed Groups (GAO) Clan del Golfo and Los Caparros, to take control of the drug trafficking business, illicit plantations and their criminal incomes, including illegal mining.
He also emphatically reject the reprehensible murder, announcing the deployment of investigation resources by the Investigation, Finding, Identification and Prosecution of Perpetrators of Massacres Unit of the National Police, to clarify these facts, as well as a reward of up to $ USD $29,000 for those who contribute with information to achieve the capture of the criminals.
In view of the actions to be taken by the Military Forces, the head of the Ministry confirmed that the National Army and the National Police will maintain and strengthen their work in the municipalities of Cuturú and El Pando and in the village of El Toro, to provide security to these communities. In the same way, intelligence will be strengthened to anticipate criminal operations.
In addition, the Military Forces and the National Police will coordinate the execution of a structural and focused operation with the Attorney General's Office, for the prosection and capture of members of organized armed groups that commit crimes in the Bajo Cauca antioqueño.
In the same way, Task Force Aquiles will intensify its operations to dismantle the Organized Armed Groups (GAO) Clan del Golfo and Los Caparros, including their ringleaders alias Chema, Chicharrón, Chirimolla and Evangélico, for which they have rewards of up to USD $29,000.
