Within the framework of the security strategy carried out by the Military Forces, the Colombian Air Force, in coordination with the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, dealt a hard blow against the Organized Crime Group (GDO) Los Internos, made up of 15 people who committed crimes in the municipality of Espinal, and who were required for the crimes of association to commit crimes, drug trafficking, manufacture or possession of narcotics.
This criminal group allegedly carried out its illegal activity for approximately a year and a half, distributing narcotics such as marijuana and bazuco (crack) in the neighborhoods of San Francisco, La Esperanza, La Bombonera, Fátima, Caballero and Góngora, Nacional, Isaías Olivar and in the village of Patio Bonito. In the same way, they allegedly carried out the distribution of drugs to the prisoners of the Penitentiary and Prison of the municipality, launching packages from outside, thus generating fear in the community of these sectors because of crimes such as personal injury, theft, and others.
During the operation, 13 search procedures and raids were carried out in the neighborhoods hit by the organization, achieving the capture of 12 people who had current arrest warrants for the crimes of association to commit crimes, drug trafficking, manufacture or carrying of narcotics and use of minors for the crimes. Besides, 3 people in flagrante delicto were caught; 2 motorcycles, 37 doses of bazuco and 300 doses of marijuana were seized.
With this new and decisive blow to micro-trafficking, the Colombian Air Force will continue working in a coordinated manner with the Military Forces and the Attorney General's Office, generating results for the department of Tolima and safeguarding the wellbeing of our boys, girls and adolescents, who in most of the cases are involved in crimes such as homicide, personal injury, theft, among others.
