In Arauca, explosive charges were planted on public roads with the intention of attacking civilians and Military Forces.
In Casanare, there is an illegal hideout with seven improvised explosive devices that would apparently be used to carry out a terrorist operation against critical and economic infrastructure.
Troops of the Eighth Division of the National Army strengthened military operations throughout the area of responsibility, in order to protect civilians of the constant attacks that organized armed groups want to carry out in the Departments of Arauca and Casanare.
The first result was carried out in the department of Arauca, on the road of the village known as Todos los Santos, in the hamlet that connects to Caño Limón and to the municipality of Arauca. In that place, apparently members of the organized residual Armed Group, GAO-r, Structure Tenth Martin Villa, indiscriminately planted two explosive devices type cylinder loaded with a large amount of explosives. Aware of the situation, troops of the National Army made a plan, in order, to reach the place and there they found not only these two explosive charges, but in the same way another explosive device that would be used to attack the soldiers working in the deactivation.
According to early information, these devices were to be detonated via cable remote control with the sole purpose of causing as much damage as possible, but thanks to the maneuvers of approach to the target, the military units secured the area and destroyed these non-conventional weapons, safeguarding the life of the inhabitants of Arauca and the men of the military Institution.
The second result was developed in the department of Casanare, in the village known as El Retiro Milagro, in the municipality of Aguazul, in the framework of Operation Simón Bolívar that fights the criminals of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Eln. There it was located and Destroyed an illegal hideout where the troops found seven improvised explosive devices 20 kilos each, and materials and black military accessories.
The material was destroyed under controlled conditions by expert anti-explosive soldiers.
Parallel to this work, the National Army emphatically rejects the terrorist attack carried out by the organized armed group, GAO, Eln, on the Caño Limón Coveñas pipeline, last Friday, January 22, putting at high risk the good physical condition of people and generating irreparable damage to the environment. Troops of the National Army carry out work on the site of the attack so that the technicians of Ecopetrol continue to carry out the restoration work. In turn, Colombian army calls on the inhabitants of Arauca to report any suspicious act on the national toll-free line 147.
