The operation against environmental crimes in the department of Vaupés, in which 13 captures have been made during 2021, still being conducted. These people face charges for the crime of illicit use of natural resources.
Troops of the Fourth Division of the Army do not cease the operation against deforestation within the framework of Operation Artemisa in the southeast of Colombia, where seven individuals were captured in flagrante for the illicit use of renewable natural resources in the department of Vaupés
Soldiers of the Brigade No.31 permanently carry out river patrols along the Vaupés River, where, thanks to these area military control tasks, was found a canoe in the sector known as Puerto Camacho, in the municipality of Mitú, in which seven people sailed with wooden slats and planks, apparently as a result of illegal logging.
When that suspicious action was realized, the soldiers proceeded to instruct the individuals to approach the shore of the river in order to inspect the material and investigate the activity they were carrying out.
After the reconnaissance of the boat, troops of the Brigade No.31 proceeded to carry out the judicial process with the support of the SIJIN (Judicial Police) of Vaupés and these persons will face charges for the crime of illicit use of renewable natural resources.
In the same way, the canoe -that had a Yamaha engine No.15 and five cubic meters of wood, made up of 165 units of simple wooden boards and 55 wooden slats- was put into custody of the authority (CDA).
