30 minors, students of the indigenous community Jerusalén, received education equipment that will contribute to their learning process.
To support the education process of children and adolescents of this indigenous community in the municipality of Santander de Quilichao, in the north of the department of Cauca, the National Army and the foundation Corazones Amigos delivered school kits, desks and several desktop computers to 30 students who carry out the learning process in a classroom made in Bareque (a rudimentary cabin made of woven sticks or reeds and clay covering them) that was built with great effort by parents for the education of their children.
This new initiative of the National Army aimed to support the indigenous community Jerusalén. It seeks to promote their cognitive abilities, skills and aptitudes in different areas, expand their knowledge, involve them in social processes and preserve their historical and cultural legacy.
Through this work, the men and women of the National Army demonstrate its commitment for the wellbeing of the civilians and also for the indigenous communities of the department of Cauca, thus contributing to the development and reconstruction of the social fabric through institutional coordination to support the most vulnerable communities. In the same way, they work to consolidate the territory control.
