In the military operation it was possible to capture three individuals, accused of being the main ringleaders.
Troops of the National Army carried out a decisive joint military operation with the Colombian Air Force, the National Navy and coordinated with the National Police in Chaparral, in the municipality Cumaribo, Vichada Department. There it was possible to dismantle the structure of the residual organized armed group, GAO-r, Group 16, with the capture of its three ringleaders.
Those captured, according to the information provided by the authorities, were alias Perico, who would be the main ringleader of this structure and who, in addition, presents current arrest warrant with Interpol blue notice; he is in the most wanted list. The second ringleader would be alias Mincho, with an arrest warrant in force. Similarly, the individual known as Yerbero or Yerbatero was arrested, who would be acting as the ringleader of the armed component, with an arrest warrant in force for the crimes of extortion and association to commit aggravated crimes. These individuals would be responsible for carrying out criminal activities such as homicide, extortion and drug trafficking in the municipality of Cumaribo, Vichada.
With this result, the territorial expansion of Group 16 is neutralized, with the dismantling of the hierarchical line responsible for planning and executing all criminal activities. In the same way, the financial apparatus of this residual GAO is weakened, breaking its links with drug trafficking, damaging its self-support and criminal capacity in the sectors of Chaparral and Santa Rita, in the municipality of Cumaribo, Vichada.
During the operation, five weapons, ammunition and communications equipment were in the same way found, materials that, along with those captured, was put into custody of the Attorney General's Office.
