More than 48 productive associations from all over the Department benefited of the peasant market and the business meeting held at the South and East Tolima Chamber of Commerce Events Center.
In support of the economic revival of the country, after having suffered for a year the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Army in coordination with institutions, benefited more than 800 families of producers such as rural women and young people, indigenous people and victims, with the sale of 500 baskets of peasant products. This, thanks to the joint effort conducted by the soldiers of Comprehensive Action and the Infantry Battalion No.18 along with the program Faith in Colombia, the Presidential council for Women's Equity, the Rural Development Agency (ADR), the National Police, the Mayor's office of El Espinal, the Gobernación del Tolima, the Chamber of Commerce of the South and East of Tolima, Asomango, Prosperity, Social, SENA, and the Special Administrative Unit of Solidarity Organizations (UAEOS).
The soldiers of the National Army were in charge of transporting products such as cassava, plantain, arracacha, avocado, soursop, blackberries, bananas, sugar cane, coffee, chocolate, among others, from the farms of the peasants or points of collection to the center of events of the Chamber of Commerce of El Spinal, where later the baskets are the organized for distribution and sale.
In the same way, simultaneously, a business meeting was held with buyers of big box markets of cities and regions such as: Bogotá, Medellín, Pereira, Armenia, Ibagué, Melgar and El Espinal seeking to eliminate intermediation and create a direct link for the sale of their products.
The National Army will continue to work hand in hand with other institutions to support economic recovery and thus help vulnerable sectors of the country.
