Last week, the distribution and marketing of four tons of marijuana was prevented and 134 drug production facilities were destroyed.
86 members of organized armed groups were arrested.
In compliance with the guidelines of the Bicentenary Plan Heroes de la Libertad, for the last seven days, the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and navy men of the Military Forces have achieved significant results in the fight against narco-trafficking, illicit activities, and the factors of instability that finance terrorist acts of Organized Armed Groups, GAO, and intimidate the civilians through violence.
With the aim of attacking the factors of instability that alter the tranquility and security of Colombians, the National Army in joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operations with the Colombian Navy, the Air Force, the police and the prosecutor's office, brought to justice five members of the substructure Heroes de Jesús Carretera of the GAO Clan del Golfo, in the Department of Chocó. This operation in the same way led to the finding of 5,500 units of ammunition, 42 magazines and six units of communications equipment.
In an operation conducted by the Colombian Navy and the Brazilian Civil Police, it was possible to find 1.8 tons of marijuana when they were being transported on a boat in the municipality of Tefé in Brazil. This was manned by three individuals who were arrested and prosecuted in the neighboring country. The drug would cost more than COP 3,700 million pesos and would be marketed in the illegal South American market.
In the municipality of Solano, in the municipality of Anorí, Antioquia, the National Army arrested alias Guevara, the main ringleader of the front Heroes y Martires de Anorí, of the organized armed group, GAO, ELN. Along with this criminal, another alleged member of this organization, who would be the alleged head of security, was arrested. In the operation, two firearms, ammunition, communications equipment and Explosives were found by troops.
In the same way in joint operations conducted by the Army, Navy and Air Force in the Department of Putumayo it was possible to find 1,200 gallons of fuel that were transported in a rudimentary boat. The individual on board did not have the required documentation, so this individual was arrested for trafficking of substances for narcotics production and he was put into custody of to the authorities along with the material found.
The Colombian Air Force ratified its commitment and service to the nation. In the frame of the increase in Covid-19 cases, it activated the protocols to conduct mass aeromedical transfers of infected patients. The first flight was from Santa Marta to Bogotá, with three patients in critical condition who were taken due to the hospital situation in the capital city of Magdalena. Upon arriving in Bogotá, they were taken to nearby municipalities. In 2021, under the San Roque II Plan, the National Center for Personnel Recovery has transported 23 patients in medicalized aircraft.
