This individual would be the main ringleader of the Rubén Darío Ávila substructure of this organized armed group, Gao, interference in Bajo Cauca Antioquia and the south of the Department of Córdoba.
This result occurs in the military and police operation Agamenon II, which deployed troops of the National Army, the Navy, the police, the prosecutor's office and Air Force aircraft in the Urabá region, where alias Yepes or Memín was neutralized, in the municipality of Mello Villavicencio, in Necoclí, Antioquia. At the site, the authorities found a grenade, a handgun, ammunition of different calibers, military accessories, communications and items of interest to military intelligence.
Thanks to intelligence information and the Civic Participation network, it was possible to establish that this individual was in the area, carrying war material and controlling the drug trafficking business and the flow of narcotics to Central America, the United States and Europe. There he died during military operations. The Military Forces were attacked with firearms.
Alias Yepes or Memín, 42, had criminal experience of more than 22 years. He belonged to the extinct AUC (United Self-Defences of Colombia), and in 2007 he joined the GAO Clan del Golfo in charge of the security of alias El Indio; in 2020 he assumed as main ringleader of the substructure Javier Yepes Cantero, with interference in the Bajo Cauca Antioquia and south of the Department of Córdoba.
Due to the trust he gained from alias Otoniel, in 2021 he is delegated as head of the substructure Rubén Darío Ávila, with interference in Urabá and south of Córdoba. In addition, he was in charge of the criminal and logistical direction in the confrontation against the GAO Los Caparros and the residual E-18, for the control of illicit activities in Bajo Cauca, north of Antioquia and south of Córdoba.
This individual was required by the authorities for the crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes, trafficking and bearing of firearms and aggravated theft. In addition, he is accused of being responsible for displacements in these regions, as well as ordering murders of social and Indigenous leaders and criminal operations against the Military Forces.
