Thanks to military intelligence work and investigation carried out by the Police and Prosecutor's Office, seven individuals were arrested and two minors were recovered over the weekend.
In the early days of July, the National Army, in coordination with the National Police, inter-agency with the office of the Prosecutor, neutralize seven individuals that would be members of the Substructure Yeison Leudo Chaverra, of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the village Porvenir, municipality of Montelíbano in the department of Córdoba.
The operation was carried out in response to the recommendation issued by the Ombudsman through early warning 083 of 2018.
Thanks to the investigative and follow-up work, which lasted several months, as well as the collection of evidence elements by the authorities, it was possible to dismantle this criminal component of the GAO Clan del Golfo, which committed crimes and carried out violent actions against civilians and members of the security forces in the municipalities of Tarazá and San José de Uré, in the subregions of Bajo Cauca Antioqueño and southern Córdoba, respectively.
Thus, by means of a search and raid on a property in the vicinity of the municipality of Porvenir, members of the Military Forces arrested three individuals, alias Alonso and alias Pirata, accused of being first and third ringleaders of the substructure.
The operation in the same way found 9-millimeter firearms with ammunition, cell phones and motorcycles, which were put into custody of the authorities.
A judge sent them in prison in the Las Mercedes prison, in Montería, for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or having firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition.
In addition, the two recovered minors were put into custody of the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute (ICBF) to restore their rights.
It is noteworthy that, with this result, the Military Forces manage to deal an important blow to the criminal structure of the GAO Clan del Golfo, since they removed two of their main ringleaders, with the capacity and experience to manage armed structures, directly damaging their organization.
