The research project is focused on the integration of the communications system and navigation control
The Naval School of Cadets Almirante Padilla (ENAP) and the Science and Technology Corporation for the Shipbuilding and Maritime Industry and inland Waterway (COTECMAR) have joined together to develop a technology demonstrator (TRL5) to the Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) of the Strategic Platform Surface (PES in Spanish), focused on the communications system and its integration with the control of navigation developed by this university.
This research project, which began in May, has an execution time of 18 months, and counts on the participation of the research groups of Naval Design and Engineering Program (PRODIN), of COTECMAR, and Control Communications and Naval Design (GICCDN), of ENAP.
Up to this time, the phase of requirements studies has been carried out and the design phase of the system is in execution, where there will be the adaptation of the Resources for the Tactical Naval Network LINK-CO- developed by COTECMAR and the Navy of Colombia, and for the navigation control, developed in the ENAP, in such a way that the integration of this in a demonstrator (TRL5) can conducted; it is the technology that will be the base for the future development of a prototype of a USV to the PES.
The project is financed with resources of the “Invitation to submit proposals for the execution of L & D & i projects aimed at strengthening the L & D & i portfolio of the Navy of the Republic of Colombia under the PES – 2019 projects modality”; the invitation is carried out by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
