In the course of a joint, coordinated and interagency operation conducted by the Colombian Navy, the National Army, the Colombian Air Force, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, in the municipality of Saravena, the arrest was possible. Alias Matecaña, alleged member of the Organized Armed Group GAO, ELN of the Domingo Lain Sáenz front, is accused of being the logistic coordinator and right hand of the individual alias Mazamorro, main ringleader of this front.
Alias Matecaña was an individual arrested for the alleged crimes of rebellion and arbitrary contributions, being the delegate to execute the collection of extortion money from merchants and peasants, in addition to being in charge of developing different criminal coordinations related to the acquisition of material of war and logistics to carry out terrorist attacks against civilians in the department of Arauca.
The individual arrested was taken to the facilities of the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation in the department of Arauca, in order to achieve his full identification and judicial processes.
It is important to mention that, with this decisive joint operation, it is possible to harm this criminal structure, weakening its economic power and its influence on civilians, thus generating greater well-being and healthy coexistence for the inhabitants of Arauca.
