In the midst of the pandemic, the Wayúu indigenous community in Alta Guajira required the support of medical specialists.
In the municipality of la Flor de La Guajira, over the weekend a great relief operation took place. It was led by the Colombian Air Force with the support of the National Army, the Navy of Colombia and the department of Health of the municipality of Uribia, who came to the health center of the municipality to provide support to more than 700 people of the Wayuu community that inhabits this area.
To reach this place, an air and ground movement was carried out that required the participation of aircraft of the Air Combat Command No.3, 5, the Military Air Transport Command, in addition to the special vehicles of the Caribbean Naval Force and the First Division, which transported on board medicines, donations, food and aid kits that made it possible to carry a grain of hope in the middle of the immense desert in which these communities live.
In the middle of the Development Support Activity, during the consultation of a pregnant woman, one of the doctors declared that she was ready to give birth, successfully attending a birth that brought to life a small kid of three kilos and 300 grams, which brightened the corridors of the medical center with his first cry.
