Coast Guard units of the Colombian Navy rescued three Colombian fishermen who were adrift in the waters of the Caribbean Sea near the Island of Providencia, after the boat in which they were carrying out fishing showed failures in the main engine.
The operation began once an alert was received from a resident of the island, who went to the Coast Guard Station of Providencia, in order to report the emergency in which the rudimentary boat and its crew were involved.
Immediately, the search and rescue protocol was activated at sea, sending a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Coast Guard Station of Providencia to the scene of the events, where the three fishermen of the island were rescued. Once there, they were given first aid and checked for good health.
The three people were transported and the boat towed to the main pier of the Providencia Coast Guard Station. The rescued personnel thanked the Naval Institution for the quick and timely reaction, which saved their lives.
