Military operations continue in the department of Chocó, this time resulting in the finding and neutralization of three mining production units in the municipalities of Itsmina and Rio Iró, in addition to the deactivation of six yellow line machines, three motor pumps and a dredge.
Colombian Air Force aircraft participated in this operation, which was carried out jointly with the National Army, coordinated with the Police and interagency with the Attorney General's Office, weakening the finances of the Cacique Calarcá substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Eln.
Given this achievement, the GAO Eln will stop receiving approximately 3,000 million pesos per year derived of the illegal exploitation of mining sites, reducing its criminal activity in this municipality of Chocó.
Through this operation, a reduction of environmental damage is achieved in about 30 hectares, which will take by 10 and 30 years to be recovered, contributing to the conservation and preservation of natural resources.
