The National Government in coordination with the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), and the Colombian Air Force (FAC), supported the emergency generated after the earthquake that devastated Haiti, consolidating to date, more than 34 hours of flight in operations in favor of the victims.
The Air Force, through the Military Transport Air Command (CATAM), had the crews and the Hercules C-130 and Titan C-295 aircraft, to quickly and timely transport equipment and aid to contribute to the search for survivors.
Since August 15, the Institution has carried out 6 operations transporting more than 43 tons of cargo and 127 passengers, including the Colombian search and rescue team USARCOL1, which in the early morning returned to the country after carrying out rescue maneuvers, pre-hospital care, and recovery work on the island.
The missions of the Colombian Air Force were carried out in support of humanitarian work in Haiti, which were coordinated through the National Personnel Recovery Center.
