The Colombian Navy dealt a new blow to drug trafficking, achieving the interception of an unnamed Go Fast boat with 177 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and two individuals on board, one of Panamanian nationality and the other Colombian, near Cabo Tiburón, in the department of Chocó.
During the interception, the individuals who manned the boat caused the sinking of the boat, making an intentional collision with the Rapid Reaction Unit-URR - of the Colombian Navy, which was pursuing it. The crash did not cause any damage to the unit or crew of the Institution. It was then necessary to rescue the two individuals at sea due to the overturning of the boat; seven sacks allegedly containing illicit substance were recovered.
The bags and the two individuals were taken aboard the Rapid Reaction Unit (URR) to the Urabá Coast Guard Station, where members of the Prosecutor's Office's Technical Investigation Unit (CTI) carried out the Preliminary Identification Tests (PIPH), leaving positive result for 177 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
Apparently the drug belonged to the Gabriel Poveda Ramos substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo that commits crimes in the region and the boat would have begun travel in rural area of the department of Chocó to Central America.
The material found and the two arrested were put into custody of the authorities.
It is estimated that the approximate value of this shipment of cocaine in the illegal market abroad would be more than five million dollars, a figure that did not manage to enter the finances of the GAO Clan del Golfo, who intend to make illegal use of Colombian waters for their illicit activities.
