Sea control operations carried out by Colombian Navy units in Tumaco - Nariño Bay led to the finding of 2,260 kilograms of cement and 150 gallons of fuel, illegally transported and apparently used by drug trafficking organizations as precursors for the production of cocaine hydrochloride in the Nariño Pacific region.
The facts were reported when a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Tumaco Coast Guard Station, guided by intelligence information, detected the boat, which minutes earlier had sailed from a dock in the La Y sector, in Tumaco, carrying a cargo suspiciously. Upon noticing the work of the authorities, the crew of the boat took the boat to a beach area where they abandoned it and fled.
Inside the boat were found by troops 53 bags with gray cement and 03 barrels with fuel, materials that according to resolution 0001 of January 08, 2015, are in the list of substances and chemicals controlled by the State. During the searches, there was no evidence of documentation referring to the corresponding Certificates, so the material was found and put into custody of the Attorney General's Office.
The Colombian Navy will continue to carry out control and security operations in the sea and rivers of the Colombian Pacific, which will hit organized armed groups and dissident groups of the Farc, and their illegal activities, as well as to commit criminal operations that put at risk the good physical condition of the inhabitants. At the same time, it invites the community to continue to denounce any suspicious activity that threatens the economy, security and life in the region through line 146.
