The Military Gaula of Sucre of the Colombian Navy and the Gaula of the National Police in Sucre, intensify the fight against extortion and kidnapping in the market square of Sincelejo.
Taking into account the denunciation of extortion cases in this sector, the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) coordinated efforts to spread the Yo No Pagado, Yo Denuncio campaign among merchants, vendors and users of this square.
During the prevention and awareness-raising activity, they visited each of the premises of this commercial sector, where they in the same way held checkpoints and information points about the toll-free hotline 147, in case of being the victim of one of these problems, such as extortion and kidnapping.
In the same way, the resources available to the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) to counter these crimes were explained, including training in anti-extortion and anti-kidnapping operations, an investigative unit of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) with experience in extortion crimes to assist victims, an intelligence unit and a prevention unit that finally is the one that tells civilians what to do if they become victims.
Thanks to the various prevention campaigns, the 112 personalized consultations and the 21 cases of extortion in the form of false service that have been attended in a timely manner, so far this year, the Military Gaula of Sucre of the Colombian Navy has prevented Sucreños from paying more than 747 million pesos, the product of extortive activities.
