In a joint operation troops of the Thirteen Brigade of the national army, stops illegal mining work in Bogotá
In military operations framed in Operation Artemisa and operation Pedro Pascasio Martínez, against illegal mining, the Mechanized Cavalry Group N°10, Tequendama, of the Thirteen Brigade, together with the Carabineros Directorate of the National Police, in support of the Brigade Against Illegal Mining and Condesa, close the La Laja Mine, in the municipality of Usaquén in Bogotá.
This operation is conducted as a contribution of the protection of the environment, water and biodiversity of the ecosystems and led to the finding of this mining which functioned without the correct permissions, carrying out illegal activities of production and coal burning, damaging the natural resources and pridcucing environmental pollution, generating a destruction that would take from 10 to 30 years to recover.
With this operation the reduction to environmental impacts is achieved, as well as an economic blow of $300,000,000 (300 million) pesos due to the seven days that will take this process before the authorities, which will confiscate the tools, machinery and real estate.
With this closure, it is possible to impact illegal mining in the area. In the same way, the finding of materials and tools used for this purpose is obtained.
