Thanks to the immediate reaction and pressure exerted it was possible to rescue this merchant who had been kidnapped for 7 days; the kidnapers demanded 40 million pesos.
In the course of an inter-institutional military operation, troops of the National Army, together with the Attorney General's Office, rescued a merchant who had been kidnapped by individuals who would be members of an organized gang.
After the relatives reported this action on national line 147 of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), the search operation began in the Terrón Colorado neighborhood, in Locality 1, north of the city of Santiago de Cali, to find the whereabouts of the merchant.
According to reports, this 37-year-old man was kidnapped as he was leaving his residence in Tuluá, Valle del Cauca, on 13 November 2021, by three men who intercepted him and put him in a vehicle heading for a farm in the same municipality; days later, the kidnappers took him to the neighborhood where the rescue was carried out. An individual, 20-year-old, was arrested.
During the development of the operation, a traumatic pistol, a magazine, ammunition and communication equipment were also found, which were given to the authorities as well as the arrested individual, for their respective prosecution process.
The merchant was taken to the facilities of the Pichincha Military Base, in Cali, where he awaits the soon reunion with his wife and children, to then be taken to a hospital in the city to evaluate his state of health.
