Continuing with the commitment to save lives, a Canadian tourist was evacuated in a Colombian Air Force ambulance aircraft from the area of Nevado del Tolima, after suffering a blow that caused a fracture of the pelvis.
After the emergency was reported by the Risk Management Unit and the relief agencies in the area, the Colombian Air Force Personnel Recovery Center (CENRP), made the necessary coordination to carry out the aeromedical evacuation aboard an Angel helicopter, which led to transfer the foreign tourist immediately to be assisted in a hospital in the city of Ibagué.
This mission of high complexity due to the topographical conditions of the region, was possible thanks to the coordinated work conducted by the Civil Defense, the Colombian Red Cross, the National Army and the Colombian Air Force, who made it possible to save the life of this 61-year-old man.
