The National Army through the Thirteen Brigade in a coordinated work with the Operation Smile Foundation of Colombia (Fundación Operación Sonrisa de Colombia), come together at this time of year to provide a better quality of life to children with the condition of cleft lip and palate, in the country.
The surgical interventions began in recent days and it is expected that by the end of December 13 children of the 39 programmed, have already received the best present of this Christmas, a new smile. The beneficiaries were registered in Bogotá and municipalities of Cundinamarca, but the initiative has already reached different cities in the country with the aim of providing support to those in need.
Throughout the process, the Operation Sonrisa Foundation of Colombia has provided them with assistance in psychology, general medicine, pediatrics, nutrition, speech therapy, dentistry, plastic surgery and permanent nursing support. In the same way, recreational activities have been carried out, in order to interact and integrate health personnel, with the families of these patients.
