The Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, would be storing drugs in illegal hideouts and using improvised explosive devices to protect the shipments.
With this finding, the Pacific Substructure of the GAO Clan del Golfo stopped receiving approximately US $ 80 million.
This year, the Pacific Naval Force has found 173 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, included in more than 320 tons found by the Colombian Navy.
In the course of four operations carried out simultaneously by the Colombian Navy, more than 2.3 tons of cocaine and a semi-submarine-type naval device were found by troops in the department of Chocó.
The first operation took place in the municipality of Punta Chori, municipality of Nuquí, where troops in the framework of search and control operations found in an estuary, and a semi-submarine with the capacity to transport approximately three tons of illicit drugs. The device, whose manufacturing cost would exceed 500 thousand dollars, was found without any material inside.
In the second operation carried out near the border with Panama, in the sector of Isla Morros, in the area of Punta Ardita, municipality of Juradó, the troops find an illegal hideout where they found 60 bags, with 1,961 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride ready to be transported to illegal international markets.
The other two operations took place in the sector Punta Chirichiri of the municipality of Juradó, and in Cocalito, municipality of Bahía Solano, where the troops found two hideouts where 385 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride had been collected ; this drug would be transported to Central America and finally to the united States.
According to intelligence information of the Colombian Navy, the semi-submarine and the narcotics belong to the Pacific Substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO in Spanish, Clan del Golfo, who, under the criminal control of alias Walter and alias Daniel, would be the main facilitators of activities related to international narcotics trafficking in this northern zone of the Pacific coast. In the same way, this structure is accused of carrying out activities of illegal recruitment of children, adolescents and young people, extortion against traders and terrorist attacks against the Military Forces and National Police in this region of the country.
