The operation was conducted in response to early warnings 009, 026 of 2018, 035 of 2019 and 018, 045 of 2020, issued by the Ombudsman's Office.
This is a result of the permanent work and the continuous military operations carried out by the National Army, where three alleged members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Eln, were arrested in a rural area of the municipality of Tarazá, Bajo Cauca region, in the department of Antioquia.
The military operation that took place inter-agency with the office of the Prosecutor, in the municipality Doradas Bajas, led to the apprehension in combat of these individuals, who would participated in the Terrorist groups Tarazá, in the front Darío Ramírez Castro, the GAO Eln.
One of those arrested is alias Darío, who apparently would be the main ringleader of this illegal armed structure, who is in the same way accused of being the mastermind and perpetrator of several crimes against the Military Forces and civilians in the area.
Within his criminal record, alias Darío would have been responsible for the incineration of two cargo vehicles on December 28, 2020, in the rural area of Valdivia, and of another 8 vehicles on the same road, on June 17 2021.
In the same way, he is accused of having ordered the attack on the toll in the sector Llanos del Cuivá, of the municipality of Yarumal, on the last of April 12, in which a security guard who worked in the place was killed.
The operation in the same way found four rifles, four pistols, two shotguns, magazines, three hand grenades, more than a thousand units of ammunition of different calibres, as well as military accessories and communications material.
This result is a severe blow to the criminal structure, in its armed component and illegal finances, taking into account that alias Darío was in the same way in charge of carrying out activities of illegal exploitation of mining sites and extorting money from small merchants in this area of the department.
Those arrested and the material were given to the authorities for their respective prosecution.
