With the destruction of infrastructure and materials finding, Farc dissident groups Western Bloc Alfonso Cano and Iván Ríos Front, lost more than 2,530 million pesos.
In the course of river operations against drug trafficking, carried out jointly and interinstitutional by the Colombian Navy, the National Army and the Attorney General's Office, it was possible to find and neutralize 13 illegal infrastructures used by dissident groups of the Farc for the production of coca base paste, in the municipalities of Tumaco and Roberto Payán, in the department of Nariño.
The deployment led by the River Combat Groups of Navy Brigade No.4, led to the identification and dismantling of laboratories that had the capacity to produce 2,000 kilograms per month of narcotic drugs, where the different phases of the production of coca base paste, which is the main precursor for obtaining cocaine hydrochloride, were conducted.
Within these complexes, were found by troops 7,143 gallons of coca base in process, 9,180 kilograms of chopped coca leaf, 938 kilograms of solid precursors, 261 gallons of liquid precursors, 175 gallons of macerated coca leaf and machinery, equipment and other elements used to achieve the narcotic. The structures and material found were destroyed in controlled conditions at the scene.
According to intelligence information, the laboratories belong to the residual organized armed groups Western Bloc Alfonso Cano and the Iván Ríos Front, criminal structures that use illicit drug trafficking as their main source of money that they use to finance their criminal actions against members of the Security Forces and the inhabitants that live in the South Pacific region of the department of Nariño.
It should be noted that, for the construction of these structures, criminal organizations intervened more than one hectare of natural resources, significantly damaging the environment. In addition, the residues of the chemical substances used during the process of making coca base paste, are left indiscriminately in the soils and water sources around the complexes, becoming these the main generators of pollution in the area.
