A joint, coordinated and interagency operation took place in the village of Bebarama, in the Middle Atrato municipality, which resulted in the recovery of 30 hectares of native forest.
Intelligence information provided by Colombian Air Force aircraft led to the finding of six mining production units allegedly belonging to the Carlos Vasquez Sub-Structure of the Organized armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
With this operation, the Air Force, the Army, the Navy and National Police, the Prosecutor General of the Nation, beat in a direct way the finances of this group by approximately 3,000 million pesos, or about 270 million pesos a month; in addition, six bulldozers that were used to carry out illegal activity were disabled.
This type of military operation leads to the recovery of territory damaged by the illegal exploitation of mining sites, which will take 10 or 30 years to recovered, contributing significantly to the protection of the environment in this area of the country.
