In order to reactivate the economy in the department of Tolima, the Support Battalion of Comprehensive Action and Development No.5 of the National Army, promotes the second Peasant Market in the municipality of Alvarado.
Alvarado is a municipality in the department of Tolima, 27 kilometers from Ibagué the musical city of Colombia, recognized for its excellent agricultural production of food such as avocado, coffee, rice, corn, among others. Under this context, next Saturday, February 19, the second great Peasant Market will be held, in the main park of Alvarado, at 8 a.m.
In this activity the Comprehensive Action Battalion No.5 and the program of Faith in Colombia of the National Army, joined in coordination with the Municipality of Alvarado, the Rural Development Agency, the Chamber of Commerce, the National Police and peasants in the department, with the aim of strengthening the direct marketing between the food producer and the consumer.
The objective of the activity is to encourage marketing in the territory, in addition to supporting small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in the region. According to the commander of the Comprehensive Action and Development Support Battalion No.5, Major Néstor Andrés Ardila Caviedes, these activities “create opportunities for the most vulnerable families in the territory.”
Colombian National Army will provide the peasants with transportation for food, labor to pack the products, and accompaniment in recreational activities in peasant activity.
The Peasant Market includes products such as: coffee, panela (sugar cane), banana, avocado, rice, lemon, banana, cachaco, chocolate, fish, cilantro, quesadillas, biscuits, cucas, eggs, yucca and rice arepas (kind of corn bread).
The peasant market is aimed at all the people of El Alvarado. In the same way people who are in the city of Ibagué and want to buy the peasant products can send their orders to the contact numbers established until Monday, February 14 and they will receive at home on Friday, February 18.
