Apparently, this illegal route would be used by the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Estructura Primera, as a drug trafficking route. In the same way, they would be committing crimes against the environment and transnational criminal phenomena.
Troops of the National Army, in Operation Artemis, found a yellow bulldozer machine, which would be used by the GAO-r First Structure, in order to build an illegal road, devastating the Amazonian Biome in the southern department of Meta.
At the time of the finding, the vehicle was abandoned, and after inspecting the place, it was determined that the road was headed towards two hamlets: Caño Viejitas and Caño Mangón, having as destination the Siare River, used as a route to transport drug trafficking supplies, to flow into the Guaviare River and thus reaching the jungles where laboratories for drug production would be found.
Thanks to the continued operation of troops in the region, it has been possible to neutralize several clandestine roads that members of the GAO-r First Structure would use as mobility routes to transport narcotics, war materiel and military accessories.
The south of the department of Meta is a strategic place for armed structures, due to its geographical situation and water tributaries that lead them to river mobility through the Siare River, with mouths in the Guaviare and Vichada rivers, where illegal border crossings are opened to neighboring countries, thus marketing narcotics outside the country.
In this way they attack, by deforestation, an area protected by the nation. They in the same way commit transnational crimes.
