Two Colombian fishermen who were in the area of the Bojonawi Nature Reserve, in the municipality of Puerto Carreño, in the department of Vichada, were rescued late at night by a Colombian Navy Coast Guard Unit.
The men, aged 54 and 57, were on the fishing tasks and had fastened their bongo boat to a nearby tree. Unfortunately, the heavy winds caused the rope to break and the current of the tributary ended up dragging the boat.
Once the emergency call was received, the rapid reaction unit of the Coast Guard of Puerto Carreño, which carried out routine control and security tasks over the Orinoco River, was immediately deployed in the area, managing to safeguard the lives of the two fishermen and later recover the bongo several kilometers adrift.
The two citizens and the boat were taken to the main pier of Puerto Carreño, where they were left safe and sound.
