2.4 tons of cocaine were found by troops during two operations in the departments of Córdoba and Antioquia.
This result prevented more than six million doses from reaching the inhabitants of the United States.
This result will hit the financial structure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, at USD$ 82 million.
During the last week, the Colombian Navy seized about four tons of cocaine in this region of the country.
Thanks to the decisive operation carried out by the Colombian Navy against organizations that commit crimes in the service of drug trafficking in the Colombian Caribbean, it was possible to find 2,448 kilograms of drugs in the departments of Córdoba and Antioquia in the course of two operations.
The first operation was carried out with intelligence information of the Colombian Navy, by units of the Coveñas Coast Guard and troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.14, who deployed in the Bay of Cispatá in the municipality of San Bernardo del Viento (Córdoba), reporting the finding of an illegal hideout that was used as a drug collection center, which contained 1,899 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
The Colombian Navy crew, in the midst of the difficulties of the muddy terrain, proceeded to carry out a complete inspection of the site, finding by the water and the mangrove 76 bags completely covered, which apparently contained narcotic substances.
The second operation in which resources of the Urabá Coast Guard Station and the ship ARC Toledo were combined, was carried out jointly with the National Army, and took place in the context of an interception of a suspicious ship, manned by two Colombians and one Costa Rican in the sector of Punta Arenas del Sur, near Necoclí (Antioquia). At the time of the call, the individuals attempted to flee colliding with the Coast Guard Unit.
The Colombian Navy reported recovering of the water the 21 bags that were transported on the boat, in which, were found by troops of 551 rectangular packages with 549 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride; as well as a briefcase with $5400,000 COP in cash. All three individuals were arrested.
The material found in the operations was transported to the facilities of the Coast Guard stations of Coveñas and Urabá, respectively, where units of the Technical Investigation Corps – CTI, carried out the Preliminary Identification Tests.
With these findings, the Caribbean Naval Force prevented about USD$ 82 million from entering the finances of the GAO Clan del Golfo, which commits crimes in this region of the country; preventing approximately six million doses of cocaine from being marketed on the streets of the world. According to intelligence, the illegal goods would be sent by sea to Central America. The material found and the arrested individuals were put into custody of the authorities.
It should be noted that, in recent days, the Colombian Navy has found about four tons of cocaine in the Colombian Caribbean, dealing a blow of more than USD$ 133 million to the finances of this Organized Armed Group.
