Lieutenant Camila Vargas Buitrago is the first female soldier in this course, she in the same way graduated with honorable mention for having completed the tests with the highest grades; thus she has horned the name of Colombia.
Lieutenant Camila Vargas Buitrago, 26, became the first woman in Colombia's Military Engineer Arm to participate in the Basic Course of Engineer at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, where Resources focused on mobility, counter-mobility and survival were covered.
During the studies, the National Army seeks to ensure that the personnel receive instruction, training or improvement in the exercise of the functions proper to the grade and Weapon. That is why Lieutenant Vargas Buitrago traveled to the United States on May 25, 2021 to represent the Colombian army abroad.
The Basic Engineering Course is guided by the U.S. Army, as training for weapon officers; there students receive classes in military orientation, rifle shooting, doctrine, bridge building, explosives, vertical and horizontal construction, project management, and 6, 8, 10 and 12-mile marches.
The course was conducted in English, so the military conducted an additional instruction focused on the language, where she had the opportunity to prepare the graduation speech representing her colleagues and the National Army.
As training, Lieutenant Vargas Buitrago conducted a demanding Physical and military resources test conducted with the Armies of the United States and Germany, which included combat survival exercises in the water, physical test, 12-mile march, rifle shooting, first aid and nuclear, biological, chemical and radiological (CBRN) management, as part of the cultural exchange; at the end of the test she obtained the silver badge.
