In addition, military accessories, short- and long-range firearms and elements that would belong to the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Structure 48, E-48, were found by troops.
In the course of joint and coordinated military operations conducted by the National Army, the Navy and the Police, three illegal hideouts were found by troops in different areas of the Putumayo department. Explosives, weapons and military accessories were found by troops there, material that would be intended to attack the good physical condition of civilians and Military Forces.
The first result was given in the village El Espinal, rural area of the municipality of San Miguel. There the troops found 443 kilograms of ANFO-type explosive packed in sacks. According to experts, with this material the terrorists would have been able to manufacture more than 500 explosive devices, including anti-personnel mines, which would be used in terrorist operations against civilians, the Military Forces or the petroleum infrastructure of the region. This material was destroyed under controlled conditions by the soldiers of the Explosives and Demolitions Group of the National Army.
In the same way, in Piñuña Negro, municipality of Puerto Leguizamo on the borders with Puerto Asís, Putumayo, 22 rifles, a grenade launcher, 73 magazines, more than 4,900 units of ammunition of different calibers, 13 grenades, military accessories and communications material, as well as garments for exclusive use of the Military Forces were found by troops.
Finally, in the municipality of Nueva Granada, municipality of Puerto Asís, the third illegal hideout of the GAO-r E-48 was found. In this were found by troops 2 pistols, 4 magazines, 70 units of ammunition and 4 machinegun, rifles sights, as well as 250 grams of pentolite (explosive), with 44 containers for the manufacture of improvised explosive devices and 3 detonators, which would be used to attack the troops who are carrying out military operations in this area of the Colombian Amazon.
These results become the largest and most significant achieved against the criminal logistics networks of the GAO-r E-48 in 2022.
During this year there are already 11 illegal hiding places with military material found by the National Army in the department of Putumayo, which counteracts the criminal operations of terrorist organizations that commit crimes in this region of the country.
