Seven people were arrested in flagrante delicto in two illegal coal mines, in a rural area of the municipality of Cucunubá.
In the framework of Operation Pedro Pascasio Martínez, troops of the Mechanized Cavalry Group No.10 Tequendama, in a joint and coordinated work with the Attorney General's Office, carried out a visit to two coal mines used for the illicit exploitation of mining deposits.
The activities that were neutralized in the Pueblo Viejo and Cerroncito sector, of the municipality of Cucunubá, Cundinamarca, considerably hit the environment and generated a significant flow of illicit money in their production. During the operation, it was possible to arrest seven people, six men and one woman, and to immobilize six hydraulic drills used for illegal exploitation.
Both the arrested and the material were put into custody of the authorities. With this result it was possible to obtain a reduction of the environmental impact in a range of approximately three hectares, obtaining the recovery from damages made to the ecosystem.
