Troops of the National Army, in compliance with the Cauca Strategy, reported dismantling a subgroup of the Carlos Patiño residual GAO in this municipality.
As a result of military operations in the Micay Canyon sector, the Specific Command of Cauca informed the arrest of two individuals accused of being members of a subgroup of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Carlos Patiño; among them would be the sub-ringleader of this structure.
In addition, in the military operation, two minors were recovered, who would have been forced recruited by this GAO. Attending the established protocols, their presentation was coordinated with the corresponding institutions for the re-establishment of their rights.
In the same way, it was possible to find four rifles, a telescopic sight, 25 metal magazines, three multipurpose vests, communication material and military accessories alluding to this residual GAO.
Thanks to this operation, the armed component of this residual structure in the municipality of Argelia, Cauca will be substantially hit. The National Army will continue to conduct operations against these organized armed groups. Under the legal system of the protection of human rights and international human rights law, it works for the security and tranquility of the inhabitants of the department of Cauca.
