Students of the agroforestry engineering program of the University of Nariño, in Tumaco, visited the facilities of the Pacific Oceanographic and Hydrographic Research Center (CCCP), of the General Maritime Directorate (Dimar), in order to learn about the operations that are implemented for the protection of the coastal spaces of the Colombian Pacific.
The 23 students toured the biology, microbiology and chemistry laboratories, where they observed the strategies that are being led for the protection of hydro biological resources and the sustainable use of them; they in the same way received information about the Resources of the area of oceanography and operational meteorology.
In the same way, an instruction was carried out in basic concepts about phenomena such as the tsunami, as well as the mechanisms that mitigate the effects of this threat to safeguard human life.
The Maritime Authority ratifies its commitment to the promotion of operations for maritime awareness and the consolidation of Colombia as a bio-oceanic power. In the same way, it will continue to accompany academic training processes, in order to strengthen inter-institutional relations.
