25 alleged members of the Uldar Cardona substructure arrested and two prison notifications issued.
This year, the Colombian Navy has significantly damaged the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, with the arrest of 105 members, including five ringleaders; 55 weapons, 2,402 cartridges of different calibers, 132 means of communication and 138 means of transport have been confiscated.
In a joint and coordinated operation, units of the Colombian Navy, the National Army and the National Police arrested 25 alleged members of the Uldar Cardona Rueda substructure of the GAO, Clan del Golfo. Authorities have also issued two prison notices for two other alleged members of this illegal organization.
These individuals committed crimes in the sub-regions of La Mojana, in Sucre and San Jorge, in Cordoba, as well as in the municipalities of Buenavista, Chinú and Sahagún, in Cordoba. They were required by the court of San Marcos for the crime of conspiracy to commit crimes for the purposes of extortion. In the same way, they recently would have committed targeted killings, trafficking of narcotic drugs and collecting money from extortion.
Among those arrested are two ringleaders, alias Viejo Marcos, alleged financial ringleader, in charge of coordinating extortions to commerce sector, ranchers, farmers and public servants. Alias La Mona, alleged urban ringleader with main interference in San Marcos, Sucre, was also captured.
This decisive heavy blow was possible after two days of sustained operations by the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Sucre, the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Bolívar, the National Elite Gaula No.1 and the Junin Battalion of the 11th Brigade of the National Army, along with units of the National Police. The 25 individuals, including six women, were put into custody of the authorities.
