Firearms, ammunition, communications equipment and vehicles belonging to the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, were found by troops in the operation incident.
Troops of the National Army, National Police and the Attorney General's Office, in a coordinated and inter-institutional work against criminals of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in a military operation, held a firefight, in which the death of one individual and the arrest of five other individuals took place.
The event took place in the village La Reserva, a rural area of the municipality of Hato Corozal. Troops arrived at the site after receiving information from the civic participation network, which alerted about the presence of strange people in the area. These individuals, noticing the military work, according to the first information opened fire on the authorities and confronted the soldiers, who reacted immediately. There one of the individuals died, while five more were put into custody of the Fifth Specialized Prosecutor's Office for their respective prosecution process.
In the course of the operation, 10 revolvers, three pistols, 162 units of ammunition of different calibers, a 12-millimeter shotgun, six pistol holders, six communications radios, a pickup truck and three motorcycles were found by troops and given to the authorities.
According to intelligence work, this armed structure would apparently belong to the Gonzalo Oquendo Urrego substructure of the GAO, Clan del Golfo and would be commanded by Rubén Parales Cisneros, who was killed in the military operation. They would be responsible for the kidnapping of a citizen that occurred in a rural area of the municipality of Arauca, Arauca, last Thursday, April 14, 2022.
This organized armed group has interference power in the villages Feliciano, Cabuyare, Bogota, Flor Amarillo, in the municipality of Caracol, ranging up to Puerto Rondon, Arauca, but then the pressure of the National Army troops in that department, sought to establish its operations and camps in the north of Casanare, on the rural area of the municipalities of Hato Corozal and Paz de Ariporo, where it is accused of conducting extortion and robbery absent farmers and ranchers in the region.
Within the material, weapons that were possibly used in selective assassinations, in the department of Arauca, are under investigation.
