Units of the Colombian Navy during a joint operation with the National Army, coordinated with the National Police and interagency with the Attorney General's Office, made the arrest of Macoco, who was in the list of the most wanted of the department of Valle del Cauca by an arrest warrant for the crime of aggravated extortion.
The operation was carried out in the neighborhood Alberto Lleras Camargo of the Municipality 3 of Buenaventura, where members of the Unified operation Group for Personal Freedom (GAULA) raided with a court order two houses simultaneously to give effect to an order of arrest against alias Macoco. In the same way two individuals were arrested in flagrante delicto for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition; they would be responsible for identifying potential victims to extort money from.
Alias Macoco is accused of having an illegal income of approximately 70 million pesos monthly product of the extortion agent the different productive and commercial groups in Buenaventura. According to intelligence information, that money is used to buy weapons and sustain the dispute against groups of criminals who commit crimes in the region for the control of illicit activities, generating anxiety among its inhabitants, and truncating the economic development of the region.
During the operation, a pistol with its magazine, four projectiles and four communication equipment were found by troops; the men were arrested and the material was put into custody of the authority. Thanks to the decisiveness and precision with which the operation was carried out, there were no damages to the good physical condition of the participating personnel, those arrested, or civilians.
