23 families who were hit by rains were evacuated and 14 gabions were built on the banks of the Ocoa River, to mitigate flooding.
The soldiers of the Engineer Brigade for Disaster Care and Prevention, together with the Engineer Battalion No.7, the Mayor's Office of Villavicencio, the Civil Defense, the Fire Department, the National Police and the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management timely assisted the evacuation of 148 people who were hit by floods in Villavicencio, Meta.
In the same way, the rescuing soldiers supported the construction and installation of 14 gabions on the banks of the Ocoa River, in order to mitigate the floods. The Military Engineers continue the recovery work of the roads and houses in support of the inhabitants of the neighborhoods La Aurora and Vanguardia, who were hardest hit.
The National Army, the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management, relief agencies and the regional authority call on people to heed the recommendations and early warnings caused by rains that occur throughout the territory. In the same way, they reaffirm their commitment to Colombians to be ready to support any type of emergency.
