Within the framework of the deployment of Colombian Navy troops in the Colombian Pacific during the electoral operations on the weekend, the operational effort was intensified with the aim of denying the river, maritime and coastal spaces to the criminal organizations that commit crimes in the region, leading the arrest of two individuals, the arrest of another and the finding of an illegal hideout with weapons.
In the port of Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca, two individuals who claimed to belong to the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, voluntarily surrendered to Colombian Navy troops, stating that they received constant threats of the ringleaders and bad treatment, in addition to the anxiety caused by the constant pressure of the uninterrupted operations by the Military Forces. The individuals were put into custody of the s authorities to be brought to justice.
Subsequently, within the framework of the Buenaventura Intervention Plan conducted by the Colombian Navy, the National Army, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, the arrest warrant was made effective on a man who was found in the village Punta Soldado, rural area of the port, for the alleged crime of extortion kidnapping, thanks to the intelligence work of the Colombian Navy. This individual would allegedly be part of the La Local organized gang, a Los Espartanos faction.
In the same way, the troops of the Colombian Navy, through a military area control operation carried out in the vicinity of the Caracolí sector, in the Abaquía River, municipality of Bajo Baudó, department of Chocó, found an illegal hideout in which two pistols, an assault rifle, a grenade launcher, two pistol magazines, a rifle magazine, more than 4,000 units of ammunition of different calibers and military accessories material, apparently belonging to the GAO Clan del Golfo, were found by troops.
The material and the individuals were put into custody of the authorities.
