The members of the Military Forces arrived at El Jardín village, where two dragon-type dredgers with two diesel engines were found by troops, as well as two rudimentary dredges with four engines. At the site of the finding, nine individuals were found by troops; the men were carrying out illicit mining activities.
The individuals and the material were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office of the Nation in Caucasia, to answer for the alleged crimes of illicit exploitation of mining deposits, environmental pollution and damage to natural resources.
It should be mentioned that the use of highly toxic substances mainly for the extraction of gold and silver directly hits the inhabitants due to environmental damage and pollution of water sources in the region.
