With two mine-clearing trucks and five utilitarian vehicles, the Humanitarian Demining operation of the Colombian Navy will be strengthened specifically in the Montes de María sub region.
In a protocol ceremony held at the facilities of the Navy Infantry Brigade No.1, in Corozal (Sucre), navy men of the Demining Battalion and Amphibious Engineers of the Colombian Navy, received two mine-clearing trucks and five utilitarian vehicles, which will strengthen the technical resources that lead to the elimination of the dangers of explosive devices, and the presentation of cleared lands.
This donation was made by the United States Department of Defense, Security and Cooperation through the Humanitarian Disaster Relief and Civic Assistance Abroad program, OHDACA (Defense Security Cooperation Agency).
These mine sweepers and vehicles are significant tools to conduct field activities in the municipalities where this technique is implemented, contributing to Humanitarian Demining efforts, improving mobility to transport equipment with the common objective of building a country free of Anti-Personnel Mines.
