The Head of State highlighted that “our military forces have earned a place in these competitions for their dedication, for their work and for their professionalism. That makes them the winning group par excellence in the vast majority of these contests, perhaps, with very few exceptions in which we have not been champions.”
President Iván Duque handed over the National flag on Tuesday to the Military Forces team that will represent the country in the competition Fuerzas Comando 2022 that will be held in Honduras.
In the Gobelinos Hall of the Casa de Nariño, the Head of State expressed: “It is with immense joy that, once again, I have the honor of handing over the National flag to the team of our Military Forces that is going to participate in this international contest of the Fuerzas Comando”.
The international competition has been held since 2004 and this year will be held in Honduras. There, the military and police teams of different countries of the hemisphere will be evaluated in different disciplines and Resources.
Colombia is the current champion of the contest and the nine members of the national team will have to face another 20 teams of the continent.
“These are units trained to withstand all kinds of tests: the tests of the weather, the tests of social pressure, the tests of insertion, the tests of not being detected and the test of reaching lethality in front of targets. That is why you all come, not to compete with theoretical knowledge, but with the glory of practice in the defense of sovereignty and unity of our country.”
In the same way, the President recalled that “you are forged and trained to handle all kinds of weapons” and he asked them to keep in mind “audacity, a motto that we want to leave to our National Army permanently: fortis fortuna audax, luck rewards boldness”.
… “And as someone said: luck equals preparation plus opportunity. For us it is preparation, plus audacity, plus opportunity. We wish you all the best,” he noted.
