Accompanied by a group of families of heroes of the Homeland who defended the Nation, the Caribbean Naval Force at its different units together with Reserve Officers and civil authorities of Corozal, Barrancabermeja, Malagana, Magangué, El Carmen de Bolívar, Turbo, Cartagena, San Andrés y Providencia paid a heartfelt tribute to the heroes and their families, on July 19 in commemoration of their sacrifice for the Homeland.
The commemorative events began with the raising of the Flag at half-mast in the military units, later in the Juana de Arco Chapel in Corozal - Sucre, the naval family of the Navy Infantry Brigade No.1, the Navy Command and Support Battalion No.1, the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Sucre and the Navy Infantry Battalion No.14 raised prayers to the Almighty to ask for the eternal rest of those who sacrificed their lives in this area of the country. In the same way, they prayed for strength for the families of the heroes wounded in combat who fought for the peace of the country.
Meanwhile, at the La Inmaculada Cathedral in Barrancabermeja, members of the Military Forces of the River Navy Infantry Battalion No.17 with the participation of the National Army, the National Police, local authorities and associations of the Barrancabermeja District joined this commemoration, in the municipalities of Magangué and Malagana where, members of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.13 recalled the courageous acts of the Sailors of Colombia who once work to provide peace and security to the region.
In the afternoon, the Naval Museum of Cartagena was the space where the Caribbean Naval Force paid honor to the men and women who lost their lives for the security and tranquility of the Nation. Subsequently, the authorities and military personnel moved to the Navy Park to make a wreath laying and a candles meeting in memory of the heroes of the Homeland. Simultaneously in the Archipelago department, civil and military authorities gathered before the Monument of the San Andres Naval Heroes who participated in the conflict with Peru to honor their memory.
For their part, men and women of the Colombian Navy units in Turbo, Antioquia, made a wreath laying and a mass, in tribute to those who gave their lives in fulfillment of the mission, to those who were injured for defending the Homeland and to those who always proudly wear the uniform.
