In a joint, coordinated and interagency operation conducted by the Colombian Air Force, National Army, Colombian Navy, the National Police and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office, it was possible to find more than 400 kg of molten metals in the rural area of the village of Santa Rita, municipality of Cumaribo, in the department of Vichada.
At the scene of the events, 29 tin ingots were found by troops, 36 bags with sandy texture shiny black material with a high tin content, an power generator, two small furnaces for metal smelting, among other elements; according to the tests carried out by experts of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office, the material would have 90 or 80 percent tin purity.
In the operation, it was possible the arrest of six people, three Colombians and three Venezuelans, who were working and guarding the place and who allegedly would be members of the terrorist support network of the José Daniel Pérez Carrero front of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN; they were put into custody of the authorities for their judicial process.
In this way, the Colombian Air Force will continue to carry out operations against the exploitation of mining deposits that damage the ecosystem and the safety of Colombians in this area of the country.
