Within the framework of the Artemisa campaign, carried out by the National Army, whose main objective is the conservation of the environment and national natural parks, a sowing of water-producing plants was carried out in the municipality of Pamplona, Norte de Santander.
600 native trees, grown in the nursery of the military unit, were planted by a group formed by the soldiers, the city administration, the company COQUECOL, students at the Provincial school and National Police units, within the premises of the Infantry Battalion No.13 General Custodio Rovira, where a tributary of the Pamplonita River passes.
The new planting activity will contribute to the production of oxygen, air purification, reducing high soil temperatures, the restoration of other plants, regenerating the necessary conditions for soils and nutrients that improve the environment.
These activities generate awareness in children and adults, creating a culture of the need to feed the water basins that supply the municipality of Pamplona with water that is used by the citizens of the city; in that sense troops contribute to reduce the effects of climate change.
