In 2022 in the Colombian Pacific, the Colombian Navy has found more than 120 tons of drugs.
In the operation by the Navy of Colombia against the drug trafficking in the Colombian Pacific, was found a collection center in the department of Chocó department, where members of Organised Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, stored more than two tons of cocaine hydrochloride, preventing the marketing and distribution of more than five million doses.
Guided by Naval Intelligence information, Navy troops arrived at the village of Curiche, rural area of the municipality of Juradó - department of Chocó, where they found an underground hideout camouflaged in the middle of a mangrove area used as a collection center.
During the search operations, 113 sacks were found by troops that were extracted of the area and taken to the municipality of Bahía Solano - department of Chocó.
Later, in a maritime unit, they were transported to Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca, where officials of the Technical Investigation Corps of the Prosecutor's Office, conducted the rigor tests that left positive result for 2,214 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
With this important operation in which no arrests were reported, more than 85 million dollars were prevented from entering the finances of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, which commits crimes in this region of the country.
With this decisive blow, there are already more than 120 tons of cocaine found by the Pacific Naval Force in this region of the country in 2022.
This effort represents not only a decrease in the selling of narcotics, but a benefit to the public health worldwide, preventing the new consumers, medical emergencies and deaths by overdose, as it prevents the contamination of numerous bodies of water, given that the substances used in the production of cocaine can contaminate water sources that supply the communities; in the same way troops protect the forests and jungles of the region of the deforestation caused during the planting of the coca leaf.
These figures are a sample of the ongoing training and instruction of the Navy of Colombia, who lead the operations to stop the use of the sea by the criminal organizations, contributing to the prevention of consumption, the comprehensive development of the people and environmental protection.
