Explosives, a machineguns, several rifles, pistols and a large amount of ammunition were found by troops in an illegal hideout in the village La Unión, municipality of Medio San Juan, department of Chocó.
In sustained military operations and in compliance with the recommendations given by the Ombudsman's Office through Early Warning No.034 of 2019, issued by the Ombudsman's Office, the Joint Task Force Titan found an illegal hideout with abundant war material and explosives, in the department of Chocó.
The military operation was conducted in the village La Unión, in the municipality of Medio San Juan, where the members of the Military Forces arrived to find, through the use of a dog, an illegal hideout with abundant war material and explosives, apparently belonging to the Heroes de Jesus Carreteras substructure, of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
Six anti-personnel mines, one machinegun, 13 long rifles, 12 small firearms, more than 2,000 cartridges of different calibers, six magazines, 10 camouflaged and 13 batteries for radio communications were found by troops at the scene, material that put into custody of the authorities for their respective prosecution.
With this important operational result, the Military Forces thwarted the terrorist intentions of the aforementioned illegal organization, which tries to commit terrorist operations that may destabilize the region, generating violence, and constantly violating International Humanitarian law.
